L'ossario della Bicocca

Nel Marzo 1879 una pubblica sottoscrizione diede modo alla città di Novara di ricordare i suoi caduti durante la Battaglia di Novara del 23 Marzo 1849 tramite la costruzione di un sacrario.

The Ossuary pyramid is located in the south-east of the city along the Corso XXII Marzo 1849, was designed by Luigi Broggi in Milan, inside the remains are preserved regardless of the fallen Austro Piedmontese army and -Hungarian Empire.

in 1910 are placed inside the bronze effigies of General Carlo Alberto and Perrone and Passalacqua.

Each anniversary of the Battle of the shrine is open to the public for the occasion Pyramid is adorned with the tricolor and manned by two guards in full uniform, taking part in the ceremony, the delegations of foreign armies, flags and banners of war fighters of various associations.

Small groups of riflemen of the different nations involved in these tragic events are lined up on either side of the pyramid for the whole period of celebration paid homage to all the fallen.

To close the ceremony, a mass and the laying of a wreath.

The 0ssario reminded citizens of Novara and Italy that the defeat were killed on the battlefield, many soldiers and as many soldiers Piedmont Austrians.
