150°Unità d’Italia – La sfortunata Battaglia del 23 Marzo 1849 Inaugurazione della mostra presso il complesso del Broletto a Novara Since March 19, 2011 at the complex Broletto Novara held an exhibition dedicated to the events of March 1849 which led to the defeat of Novara through the presentation of prints, paintings and reproductions.

Go to the program of events on www.italiaunita150.it/ Broletto of Novara is a medieval architectural complex of four historic buildings built in different periods, different styles, arranged in a quadrangle around a courtyard (also called "Arengo) Central. Always focus of civic life town, now houses the town museum, and a Gallery of Modern Art in Novara, here it held exhibitions and temporary exhibitions and open air cinema in summer. On the north side is the Palazzo del Comune (or dell'Arengo Palace), the oldest building, dating back to the twelfth century. On the front there are a series of four three-light windows and the remains of a pictorial frieze dating to 1460 episodes representing coats of arms and scenes of chivalry. The covered staircase situated in the north-west is a reconstruction of the first half of the twentieth century. Shortly afterwards, the Guild Hall (guilds), located on the east side, dating from the twelfth-thirteenth century, but expanded during the eighteenth century, with a simple but elegant portico. On the south side stands the Palazzo del Podestà, built between the late fourteenth century and the beginning of the fifteenth century, recognizable by the arcade with pointed arches topped by five floors and mullioned windows decorated with frescoes of the fifteenth century.

Broletto of Novara is a project of restoration and conservation on the occasion of the celebrations for the Unification of Italy 150.
